We are finally entering, what is called, the delivery stage for our Heritage Lottery Fund Project at St Catherine’s Church. The initial application work started in 2016 and, after a great deal of form filling we have secured a significant grant that will not only replace the roof but allow us to repair such things as drains, guttering and internal decoration.
The special Cumbrian roof slates were delivered and sorted which allowed the work to start on time and start repair of the roof. During the repair period the church has been handed over to the contractor and they have created small compounds within the churchyard for their goods. The east gate is now closed, however access to the graves will be always available with access to the churchyard being via the south and west gates.
We will be holding regular church services in The Church of England Primary School in Barmby Moor. Please do contact Rev Jan Hardy for help in arranging other services such as baptisms, funerals and weddings. The work will hopefully be completed in February 2018 and we plan to hold a Celebration Service on 19 May 2018.
